Campus Deutsch - Writing

In Campus Deutsch - Writing students learn a variety of writing techniques for successfully writing academic texts. An introductory chapter in which general writing techniques are taught is followed by chapters in which students practise the main academic text types:

  • Summary and excerpt
  • Term paper, abstract and handout
  • Protocol and internship report

All chapters are self-contained and can be swapped in order. Teachers can therefore prioritise individual chapters differently to suit the teaching intention. The topics and texts used as the basis for the writing tasks cover a broad spectrum, so that the areas of interest of the participants are likely to be covered even in non-specialist propaedeutic courses. The topics are:

  • Fresh from the rubbish bin to the table (Social Sciences)
  • Genius research (medicine)
  • Effects of rising sea levels (natural sciences)
  • Land-sea wind system (geography)
  • et al.

On each page there are specific instructions for writing the texts in the chapter. Examples of this are

  • Use a scientific writing style
  • Formulating captions
  • Write an introduction and a conclusion
  • and much more

An appendix with thematically organised language resources rounds off this volume.
